Seismic Swarm in Iceland Points to Imminent Eruption: Fagradalsfjall’s Role in DT-GEO

A seismic swarm in southwest Iceland suggests a potential volcanic eruption near the Fagradalsfjall volcano, which has been increasingly active since 2021. This event is closely linked to DT-GEO’s work, as Fagradalsfjall is a key Site Demonstrator for testing Digital Twin Components to model geophysical extremes. Our project is also monitoring the nearby Grímsvötn volcano, which is in a pre-eruptive state.
