Exploring Shared Goals at the GEO-INQUIRE Annual Meeting

The 13th Iberian Grid Conference, IBERGRID 2024, unfolded this week in Porto, Portugal, as a gathering point for experts in digital infrastructure, data management, and scientific computing. Held at the Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto, this year’s event spotlights innovative tools and methodologies driving scientific breakthroughs, from data lakes and digital twins to quality software and Open Science adoption. Among the noteworthy presentations was the DT-GEO project, a key player in using Digital Twin technology to improve natural hazard forecasting and disaster resilience.

DT-GEO took part in the 2nd Annual Meeting of Geo-INQUIRE, held in Warsaw and hosted by our partners at IGF. We’re especially grateful to Mariusz Majdański and his team for their excellent organization and warm hospitality, which created a productive environment for collaboration.

The meeting brought together geoscience experts from around the world, both on-site and online, to discuss ways to improve access to data, services, and tools for studying dynamic processes in the geosphere. It also highlighted the close partnership between Geo-INQUIRE and DT-GEO: 19 of DT-GEO’s 26 partners are actively involved in Geo-INQUIRE, reflecting the shared goals of both projects.

These connections strengthen our efforts to address geoscience challenges. By combining our knowledge, resources, and innovations, we can work more effectively toward solutions and contribute to advancing Earth science research.
